Startup Metrics

Startup Metrics is an add-on that gives you a monthly snapshot of your core SaaS-style business numbers — recurring revenue, growth, and customer churn — computed automatically from your contracts. It sits outside the regular Free/Starter/Pro plans: it's enabled per account rather than included automatically with a plan upgrade.

Getting access

Startup Metrics is enabled by subscribing to the Startup Insights add-on (€7/month, per account) — the account Owner or an Admin can turn it on from Settings > Billing > Plan, on a paid plan (Starter or Pro). See Managing your plan for how. If it isn't active on your account yet, the page shows a short message instead of your data. Once it's active, no further action is needed; the numbers start appearing automatically — and if you unsubscribe from the add-on later, access turns off immediately.

Overview cards

  • MRR — your monthly recurring revenue: the combined monthly-equivalent value of every currently active contract. A quarterly contract counts at a third of its value each month; a yearly contract at a twelfth. One-time contracts aren't recurring, so they don't count toward MRR.
  • ARR — MRR annualised (MRR × 12), the usual way to express recurring revenue on a yearly basis.
  • Active customers — the number of distinct partners with at least one active contract. A partner with several active contracts is still counted once.
  • MoM growth — how much MRR changed compared to the previous month, as a percentage.
  • YoY growth — how much MRR changed compared to the same month a year earlier.
  • Customer churn — the percentage of last month's active customers who no longer have any active contract this month.

MoM growth, YoY growth, and customer churn all show — instead of a percentage until there's enough history to compare against — for example, YoY growth stays at — for your first twelve months.

MRR trend

A line chart plotting your MRR at the end of each month, so you can see the overall trajectory of your recurring revenue over time.

Net-MRR movement

A stacked bar chart breaking down, month by month, exactly where your MRR change came from:

  • New — revenue from contracts that started this month
  • Expansion — the increase from existing contracts whose value went up
  • Contraction — the decrease from existing contracts whose value went down
  • Churned — revenue lost from contracts that ended this month

This view answers a different question than the single MoM growth percentage: it shows whether growth is coming from new customers, from existing customers spending more, or whether it's being offset by contraction or churn elsewhere.

How snapshots are calculated

A new snapshot is computed automatically on the 1st of every month, covering the month that just ended. There's no historical backfill: your first snapshot reflects whichever month Startup Metrics was activated for your account, not any earlier activity, and growth/churn figures build up from that point onward as described above.

Working offline

If you open Startup Metrics while your connection is unavailable, the page shows the most recently loaded snapshots instead of an empty page, marked with a loaded from local cache — server not reachable indicator. It updates automatically once the server is reachable again.
